Simply Baked Fried "Not Fried" Chicken

This is my go to mix for fried chicken that is NOT fried! SUPER simple, only dry ingredients, and under 5 mins prep time!

Preheat oven to 400!

Add all the ingredients below - I generally free hand! But below is a good estimate for 2 pieces of chicken.

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 1/2 cup Italian style bread crumbs ** ( You can use Panko crumbs BUT make sure to either add in Italian seasoning OR up the other flavorful ingredients)

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder *Optional (We like our chicken to have a tiny kick to it)

  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

  • 3/4 teaspoon pepper

Prep the chicken by making sure to dry off any excess water and trim off any extra fat.

Then use some olive oil to get the chicken a thin "wet" coat so the mixture has something to cling too.

Coat the chicken evenly with the mixture - Pour the mixture on top and pat down onto the chicken. (Leaving the mixture on the chicken lumpy will make it burn while not enough will just fall off the chicken).

Place in oven and set the timer!

Cook Times:

  • Chicken breasts: 20-25 minutes depending on the size or until golden brown

  • Bone In Chicken Thigh: 45 minutes in the oven or until golden brown

  • Boneless chicken thighs: 30 minutes in the oven or until golden brown

  • Drumsticks: 30-35 minutes or until golden brown

That is it! Let cool and dig in!
